Yes, the ready-made pdf teaching materials are offered under a free educational license and can be freely used in any classroom (public, private or commercial).

Note some platforms have policies that restrict public broadcast. It really depends on local laws. YouTube is probably a good option for the classroom, as the artist has given public permission for classroom broadcast.

Also I cannot speak for the other artists. I have no authority over their rights. But it is generally safe to set their songs as homework listenings, where the student is listening on digital platforms like Spotify or TikTok. Its good for everyone.

Have the artists given permission?

Yes, Lingua Flux permission has been given for teachers to broadcast the songs in classrooms and also to create new learning activities based on the words of the songs. Please also note distribution platforms have their own local usage rules.

Can I make my own TEFL activities?

Yes, Lingua Flux allows this. There is one plain text song-words pdf for each song. This is under a license allowing schools and teachers to edit and make their own activities. For example, add a school logo, add first language instructions or delete select words to make a gap fill. Just remember to credit Lingua Flux as shown in the license.

Can I use the song images?

Fair usage applies. Yes, Lingua Flux allows under the terms of the license. These materials can be used for educational purposes.

Why not just use more famous songs?

Three reasons for Lingua Flux: Focused memory triggers, optimal learning and legally safer.
- Firstly, the concept is for students to play songs in the background, outside of the classroom, forming artificial immersive experiences. It is likely these songs will trigger the classroom learning memories, as that is where they will have first heard the song. A super famous song could have multiple competing memories.
- Secondly, the Lingua Flux songs have pronunciation activities pre-inserted into the songs. By then adding vocabulary and grammar activities, this optimises compounded learning for your students.
- Thirdly, famous songs reside, at best, in a legal grey zone regarding classroom usage broadcast rights. I cannot make or support such materials.
